The positivity principle

Nearly 100 years ago, a German philosopher and linguist Ludwig von Wittgenstein said, "Words enable deeds." And that's the first reason why a positive approach is important.

The way we talk colours and the way we think and feel, shape the way we act. Negative words encourage us to act negatively, positive words to act positively. Our words can literally programme our brains and guide our actions.

Does the way you talk take you to the path of failure or the path of success?

I once met a man called John who told me he always made a point of replying, "Fantastic!" whenever someone asked, "How are you?" One day, someone introduced him like this: "I'd like you to meet my friend John - he's fantastic." John became associated with his own word.

Like John, we all become associated with our words. That's the second reason a positive approach is important: The way we talk influences the way other people see us. Fill your thoughts and communications with positive words and messages if you want to encourage others to see you in a positive light.
